FAQs
What type of oil does Labonia produce?
Labonia produces three types of extra virgin olive oil: Terre del Sole, with an intense and decisive taste; Saecularis, a monovarietal with a more delicate profile; and Cropalatum, characterized by a sweeter and more harmonious taste.
What olive varieties are used?
Terre del Sole and Cropalatum are made from the pressing of several olive varieties such as Dolce di Rossano, Coratina, Roggianella, Nocellara del Belice, and Nocellara Messinese, while Saecularis is a monovarietal obtained exclusively from Dolce di Rossano.
Where are you located and where are your cultivated lands?
Our olive mill is located in Cropalati, a small town in the province of Cosenza, Calabria. Our olive groves are in the municipalities of Cropalati and Caloveto.
What is the oil production process?
The quality of our oil comes from a careful and rigorous production process, which begins at the time of harvesting. The olives are picked in the early morning hours, and as soon as the first 5–6 bins are filled, they are immediately transported to the mill for pressing, thus preventing the onset of fermentation processes.
Harvesting concludes every day at 2:00 PM, and all harvested olives are pressed by 10:00 PM on the same day, ensuring quick processing times and maximum respect for the raw material.
Once extracted, the oil is tasted, selected, and subjected to qualitative analyses. Immediate filtration follows, which is essential to eliminate impurities and sludge that could cause defects over time. This results in a brilliant, stable oil capable of preserving its flavors and aromas intact.
Can I use olive pit residue in a regular pellet stove?
Yes, in most cases. Many modern stoves are already "multi-fuel." If your stove was designed only for pellets, you might need a small adapter for the brazier (a mesh or a reducer) to prevent the smaller olive pit granules from falling into the ash drawer before burning.
Tip: Consult your stove's manual or contact your trusted technician to confirm compatibility.
⚠️ Note: The warranty of some stoves may require the exclusive use of certified pellets. Always check your manufacturer's conditions before proceeding.
