Who we are
The Labonia company was founded in Cropalati, a small town in the province of Cosenza, surrounded on one side by the Sila plateau and on the other by the Ionian Sea.
It was founded by Luigi Labonia, inherited by his son Raffaele and named "Trionto" agricultural company, in reference to the river that runs alongside the entire company. Subsequently, it was managed by his son Franco, who expanded its boundaries, diversified production with a citrus grove, and introduced a small oil mill. Now we are in the fourth generation with Raffaele and Isabella, who have introduced new technologies, such as a modern continuous cycle extraction plant, a photovoltaic plant for electricity production, and equipment to transform company waste into biomass.

Today, thanks to the experience of three generations, it produces and markets organic extra virgin olive oil and citrus fruits.
The great determination to achieve very high quality standards, respect for the environment and its territory, and extreme attention to the well-being and health of its consumers are the pillars on which the entire work of the Labonia group is based.
Practicing agriculture by vocation for almost two centuries, it was only natural to undertake agriculture using the organic method, in compliance with the requirements of EC Regulation 834/07 and Regulation 889/08, not intended as a return to traditions, but as innovation and continuous research that allows us to make the best use of all the mechanisms that nature provides.

The Labonia group promotes organic farming, fully sharing all its values:
- protection of the territory;
- product guarantee;
- protection of consumer health.
Indeed, the cultivation techniques used respect environmental balances, limiting air and groundwater pollution, avoiding excessive exploitation of land by making it healthy and fertile. All this is aimed at preserving the biodiversity of the territory.
In this way, our organic extra virgin olive oil contains all those characteristics of healthiness and biodiversity that make it unique and inimitable.
The olive groves managed by the Labonia group consist of both centuries-old olive trees of the indigenous "Dolce di Rossano" cultivar, with which our "Saecularis" monocultivar oil is produced, and more recent plantings with varieties such as Carolea, Nocellara del Belice and Messinese, Coratina, with which "Terre del sole" and "Cropalatum" are produced.
The fruit is harvested and milled within 8 hours to preserve all the organoleptic characteristics of the product. Milling takes place at the oil mill located within the same company; the olives are crushed in a modern continuous cycle plant, which ensures an extraction that respects the organoleptic characteristics of the product.
